英语绘本故事《where the wild things are》野兽出没的地方

我们今天讲的英语绘本故事叫做《where the wild things are》。它是一部儿童狂想曲，出版于1963年，是非常早的经典。

当当当当！看到了吧，小主人公 Max 登场了，他穿着狼外套在家里胡闹。大家在家里胡闹的时候，爸爸妈妈会怎么样呢？ Max的妈妈可是要收拾他了：不许吃晚饭，直接上床睡觉去！

听到这样的话，谁会高兴呢？Max要逃了，他逃到哪里了呢？我们快来跟上他！

Where The Wild Things Are

野兽出没的地方

The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind.

那晚麦克斯穿着狼服，做出了一种恶作剧。

and another,

又做了一个恶作剧，

His mother called him "wild thing!"

他妈妈叫他：“野兽！”

and Max said "I'll eat you up!"

麦克斯说：“我要把你吃掉！”

So he was sent to bed without eating anything.

所以他被送到床上，什么也没吃。

That very night in Max's room a forest grew.

就在那天晚上，麦克斯的房间里长了一片森林。

and grew-

长啊长...

and grew until his ceiling hung with vines，

一直长到天花板上挂满藤蔓

and the walls became the world all around.

墙壁消失在了世界的边缘。

and an ocean tumbled by with a private boat for Max,

一片大海翻滚而过，为马克斯准备了一艘私家船，

and he sailed off through night and day,

他日夜航行，

and in and out of weeks,

一个星期又一个星期，

and almost over a year,

差不多一年多了，

to where the wild things are.

到了一个有野生动物的地方。

And when he came to the place where the whild things are,

当他来到世界的地方，

they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth,

他们吼叫着，咬牙切齿，

and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws.

转动他们可怕的眼睛，露出可怕的爪子。

Till Max said "be still!" and tamed them with the magic trick of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all.

直到马克斯说“别动！”用一种魔法驯服了他们，眼睛一眨也不眨地盯着他们所有的黄眼睛，他们吓了一跳，叫他野兽之王。

and made hime king of all wild things.

现在他成了野兽之王。

"And now," cried Max,"let the wild rumpus start!"

“现在，”麦克斯喊，“让野兽们闹起来吧！”

"Now stop!" Max said and sent the wild things off bed without their supper.

“现在停下来！”麦克斯说，把那些野性的东西打发下床，没有吃晚饭。

And Max the king of all wild things was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.

野生动物之王马克斯很孤独，他想去一个最爱他的地方。

Then all around from far away across the world he smelled good thing to eat

然后他从世界各地闻到了好吃的味道

so he gave up being king of where the wild thing are.

所以他决定放弃在这个野兽出没的地方当国王了。

But the wild thing cried,"Oh please don't go-we'll eat you up-we love you so!"

但是那野东西叫道：“哦，请别走，我们会把你吃光的，我们太爱你了！”

And Max said,"No!"

麦克斯说：“不！”

The wild things roared their terrible and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their their terrible eye and showed their terrible claws,

野兽发出可怕的吼叫，磨着可怕的牙齿，转动可怕的眼睛，露出可怕的爪子，

but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye.

但是马克斯走进他的私人船挥手告别。

and sailed back over a year,

然后他航行了一年，

and in and out of weeks,

一个星期又一个星期，

and through a day,

经过白天，

and into the night of his very own room,

又回到了他自己房间的那个夜晚，

where he found his supper waiting for him,

他发现晚餐等着他，

and it was still hot.

而饭还是热的。

小编思考

妈妈不经意的一个称呼：“小野兽”，让孩子真的把自己想成了野兽群的一员，好在孩子还是爱妈妈更多，最终回到了现实，回到了温暖的饭菜旁边。

释放天性，爱冒险，爱家庭，可以很好地融合在一起，所以爸爸妈妈要静下心来体会孩子的心理，尽可能尊重和引导孩子，而不是简单粗暴地给孩子贴标签。

给孩子一方天地，大胆成为自己，最终他们会更爱你。
